Center of gravity
In Judo, the term "Center of gravity" refers to a contestant's balance, and to be in a balanced condition means that one is standing in a stable posture in which one's body weight is well balanced. The fundamental principle of Judo Waza is to destabilize the opponent and use the opponent's toppling force to throw him / her in the destabilized direction. In order to avoid being destabilized by an opponent's Waza, a contestant must use Tai-sabaki (Body shifting / Body control) to shift his stance to maintain a balanced posture at all times. Finding one's Center of gravity (Balance) is a fundamental and important part of Judo.
