Uchi-mata-makikomi (Inner thigh wraparound throw)
Summary
This is a variant of the Uchi-mata (Inner-thigh reaping throw) Waza.
Features of this Waza
The Uchi-mata-makikomi (Inner thigh wraparound throw) begins as an Uchi-mata (Inner-thigh reaping throw), and then changes to this wraparound-and-throw Waza.
Waza details
Tori (Player executing technique) grasps Uke (Player receiving opponent's attack) collar with his Tsurite (Lifting hand), and lifts to a height above Uke (Player receiving opponent's attack) ear.
Turning the wrist of his Hiki-te (Pulling hand) so that its palm is facing outward, he pulls Uke (Player receiving opponent's attack) forward while raising that hand to the height of his eyes.
Using both his lifting and Hiki-te (Pulling hand)s, he destabilizes Uke (Player receiving opponent's attack) diagonally toward the front, and then throws him down.
Tori (Player executing technique) performs the throw by placing the back side of his thigh between Uke (Player receiving opponent's attack) legs, and then swinging him from front to back in a sudden motion. Up to this point, this Waza is identical to the Uchi-mata (Inner-thigh reaping throw).
If Tori (Player executing technique) realizes at this point that Uke (Player receiving opponent's attack) has not been sufficiently destabilized for the throw to be effective, he immediately switches tactics and wraps Uke (Player receiving opponent's attack) around his own body. Using the weight burden which his body imposes on Uke (Player receiving opponent's attack), he topples Uke (Player receiving opponent's attack) onto his back. This Waza is not used to obtain an Ippon gachi (Win by ippon).
The Uchi-mata-makikomi (Inner thigh wraparound throw) is used as a second option when an attempted Uchi-mata (Inner-thigh reaping throw) fails to adequately destabilize Uke (Player receiving opponent's attack).
